November 5th
Yesterday I received another pretty incredible stroke of kindness from the craft world. KatyRenee had a contest a while back on her blog and I won. I was able to select an image and she said she’d whip something up for me. Of course, I looked to my creative idol — Ms. Kahlo.
Why yes, I am in love. Thank you Katy!
To see why Frida inspires me, check out some of these images. I have tentative plans to spend some time in San Miguel de Allende with mi amigita Alma next Fall visiting Frida’s studio. Holy guacamole, that would be the trip of a lifetime. Frida’s story, and many others, do make me believe that many great artists often find inspiration from tragedy. Thankfully, I admire their work in my sphere of happiness (while wearing awesome accessories.)
Cheers,
Kelli
{NaNoBlogMo is officially kicking my butt. Who knew blogging everyday for a month would be tricky for a girl who never shuts up? Yeah. I’m surprised too.}

Whole wheat tortilla, black beans, spinach, tomatoes, Colleen’s spicy tomato chutney, and quinoa — health wrapped in happiness.
This is the dinner I ate the night I voted for America’s first African-American President. I know one day I’m going to be telling my kids about today. It gives me chills.
Finally. Finally! We are going to have a president who represents my values, makes me proud and makes me want to be better. Thank you Mr. Obama. I know it hasn’t been easy going, but I’ve never been prouder of our nation.
January cannot come soon enough.

November 3rd
Dee and I cruised around the Arizona Center yesterday, enjoying the warm November weather and our time together. She just got a fancy new camera and wanted some pointers. Little did she know my only advice would be, “Shoot a lot. Delete the ones you don’t like.” We had a great afternoon wandering, looking for the details around us and catching up like two gossipy hens.
Now, to carry forward that positivity to this week!

Thanks to Colleen and her fabulous recipe for Portuguese Sweet Bread, my home currently smells like heaven. Truly, I’m such a lover of food that I really do think heaven very well smell like a bakery. This bread takes a bit of time and care, as any great recipe does, but is well worth the effort. Four loaves headed off to friends today, and the timing is perfect; we are celebrating my church’s 60 birthday today and having a feast after service. I’m happy to be bringing a couple of these along.)
Duda, my Portuguese friend! You’ll have to make this bread. Your peeps know what they are doing. The bakeries in Mozambique are fabulous as well.
Happy Sunday friends!

P.S. If you’d like the recipe (and really, who wouldn’t?) ask Colleen! See if she’ll share it and check out her great site.

November 1st
Yesterday Carl called to see if there would be anyway I could help him out in a pinch: he had his 3-year-old daughter P for the afternoon and needed to go into work. Would I mind spending time with her?
Are you kidding me? Look how cute this kid is, especially in her Alice in Wonderland Halloween gown. How could I mind? I love her to pieces and after seven hours of nail painting, hair braiding, movie watching, cookie eating, trick-or-treating and repeating “Kelli is my favorite auntie,” she was upset when I left her. I’d say the afternoon was a raging success.
