July 27th

A late birthday gift for my friend Jenny.

I picked up a new lens this weekend — a 50 mm 1.4 something or another. It is a fixed lens, meaning you can’t turn it to zoom in and out. I know so little about photography other than what I like. It’s the je ne sais quoi of art. I can’t explain why I like what I do, I just do. And so, forgive the blurry photos I’m certain to post in the months to come. They are my own odd form of art.

I love this purse! It made me very very happy to pack my purse things in it this morning and put it on my shoulder as I headed out of the house. Thank you so much!

  2. Great bag!

  3. Ditto on the why I like what I like…

  4. The bag looks great, and I love that lens. One of my absolute favorites. It does a great job with bokeh in the backgrounds, but sometimes it’s a bit much. It’s really nice for indoors because it’s fast (1.4 refers to the aperture, and it’s bigger at lower numbers, which means you let in more light and you can use faster shutter speeds). Oof. Sorry, didn’t mean to get all photo-nerdy on you! Just take lots of photos and you’ll get used to it!

Just catching up on the past few posts – great! Love what you are doing with your camera. I cant wait to buy your book with my first paycheck at new job!!!! You are always an inspiration. 🙂

  6. I love these bags you make. I thought of you just now as I was reading another blog I regularly read:

Camilla made 14 simple, pretty dresses for little girls in Africa over the weekend and took some lovely photos of them.

  7. Beautiful beautiful bag

  8. it’s a great lens and the one i use most now {i just bought mine a few months ago}. it creates some amazing photos with such a narrow depth of field. I just recently took a ‘refresher’ course at a community college and it was just what i needed…enjoy your new lens! it’s a fun fun toy…
