Buenos Dias Indeed

March 30th

Spring blooms 008

Tomorrow I’m off to Mexico for the day for work. In turn, today is “comp time.” Sweet cracker sandwich, I love the odd vacation day.
It’s 5 am and I’ve got snickerdoodles and brownies hot out of the oven ready to be delivered to the bagel shop, a pretty spring dress and sandals to wear, a massage scheduled for this afternoon, a stack of new magazines to go through and the Tempe Art Festival starts today. One would think I would have planned to sleep in. Alas, my body is in a set routine. Just that much more time to enjoy the day.
Plus the desert is coming back to life after a brief winter. The cacti are blooming in wild colors and everyone in Phoenix seems to be outside, drinking up this weather with a glass in both hands. The only indoor activity I’d like to schedule this weekend is seeing this movie. Life is good.
Happy weekend!
And if I don’t show up Monday, send a search posse. Tequila, pinatas, blue and white pottery, awesomely cheap vanilla…

  2. And here we’re floating away with rain!!!! Have a nice weekend Kelli!

  3. Ah yes, the vanilla! The best vanilla on earth!
And the Tempe Arts Festival– one of my fave events. That and the Renaissance Faire out in Mesa (which doesn’t look at all like medieval England with the Superstition Mountains looming in the background, but after a few pints it doesn’t matter!) Have fun!!

You sound like you are going to have an awesome day and weekend. Now I think I’m going to make some snickerdoodles as well and send them to Nick’s uncle in Iowa. those are his favorite. Take pics of all of the pretty stuff at the Arts Festival. Nathan is sick or I’d probably go.

  5. OMG. 5am and you’ve already baked? Can you move in with me? LOL! Have fun in Mexico and drink a few for me…will ya? πŸ™‚

  6. A massage, Mexico AND your dinner party… what an awesome weekend! Have fun and bring us back pictures. I’d request vanilla, but border patrol might wonder why you were bringing back enough vanilla for all the blogosphere. We’ll settle with pictures and recipes of your yummy baking. Enjoy!

  7. Ooooh, I took a picture almost identical to this at the Phx Zoo yesterday. I love the cactus blossoms. They are such a startling contrast to the brown desert it’s almost unreal how vibrant they are. Have fun in Mexico!

  8. Sounds like you have a wonderful day planned! Enjoy your massage and the movie. I love days when I wake up early and get to enjoy the whole fun day. Have a great time, and enjoy Mexico!

  10. I hear you about the body clock!! I have one that has a set alarm too.

Have a great week day vacation day!

I bet the Tempe Art Festival would be great today.

  11. I am utterly inspired! You are not only awake and functioning at 5 am (which would be a monumentous accomplishment for myself), but you have also baked!!? Bravo, my friend!!

    Enjoy the massage (sounds heavenly).

    Be careful in May-hico

  12. you do not know how badly i need a snickerdoodle today! yumola. have a safe trip!

  14. Those are gorgeous flowers! Have a great weekend!

  15. Eat a fish taco (at a safe looking stand, please) for me!! That flower shot is beautiful!!!!

  16. Wow you are so frickin’ productive. It’s cold and dark and gloomy and rainy here so I had a very very difficult time getting out of bed this morning.

Sounds like you have a great day planned! Enjoy your weekend. πŸ™‚

  17. “snickerdoodles and brownies hot out of the oven ready to be delivered to the bagel shop”

    TO the bagel shop?

And, that sounds like so much fun, you may find a search party headed your way even if you AREN”T lost….or just don’t want to be found!

  18. mexico! hope you have a great time. stay safe!

  19. Have a great weekend, Kelli!!

  22. have a great time in Mexico. it’s nice to have a weekday off. i used to love those.

  23. I’m with you — no wasting the day off by sleeping it away! I think I used to get up even earlier on the odd weekday off, just to enjoy not getting ready for work. πŸ™‚ Hope you had a great day!

    Hasta luego!

  24. oooh mexico. I am soo jealous, but only because of the margaritas. haha (is that bad?) I’m impressed you had cookies AND brownies baked at 5:30 in the morning!

  25. That sounds like a great day!! Snickerdoodle are my favorite.

  26. Somebody beat me to it, but what the heck, the vanilla, best vanilla in the world, there I said it. Have a margarita for me, it’s still cold here and we are actually still expecting some snow! Beautiful flower, love that color…ciao

  27. Just had to come back here and tell you that now I’ve been craving Moon Pies **all day**. LOL. Thanks, now I’ll have to get one this weekend sometime.

  28. I would love to sleep in but I am also on a schedule. What I do love on a day off is a nap later on. Enjoy the day and safe travels in Mexico! !Hasta Luego!

  29. sandals, a massage, fresh magazines….fabulous!

  30. what a perfect comp time day!! full of good things. (and though i love to sleep in, it’s often hard… and it does give you more time to enjoy the day off when you wake up early πŸ™‚ ) hope your day was amazing and that you had a good trip to mexico!

  31. really? vanilla. vanilla beans?
do you bring any back with you?

  32. ooooh, i am sooo jealous of your day!!! sounds heavenly. and cheap vanilla??? what could be better?

  33. Chihuahua!!! That sounds like the perfect weekend! I’d so love to have one of those but I couldn’t possibly submit my daughter to my mother for a whole weekend lest I want to return to a mini version of her “Gamma”. I’d be reminded time and time again when looking at talavera pottery, patron tequila, and vainilla a la barata that my mother and daughter had become the same person. Lol hope Mejico treated you well!
