Finny & Donk’s Sewing Adventure: Final Project

November 26th

Dear Fin,

Hello dahling! How are you? I am so, so happy this morning. I was able to sleep in and woke up to the sound of rain. In Arizona, this is one of the most precious sounds. I was thrilled! My dad arrived last night and even though our plans of taking a lovely desert hike were drenched, we decided to hit the gym for a bit before heading off to breakfast. We’ll see a movie today and maybe go bowling.

I LOVE Father/Daughter days. It has been forever since we’ve had one. But back to the details: I finished our project! I sewed these up as sample Christmas cards. I know how much you love, ahem, Christmas swag. But you’ll have to admit these are pretty cute thanks to my new Martha Stewart birdie stamps. And your cards came out super cute. I thought maybe you’d rock the Hanukkah cards with the star pattern, but you went an entirely different (and pretty) direction.

So, what will we do next? I think we need some fantastic new sew-along idea to balance out how much this book has bummed me out. It just didn’t live up to its potential. Am I the only one that feels this way? It doesn’t help that last year’s sew-along book and projects were simply SO rad! Ideas?

Okay, off to breakfast and movies and bowling. Got to run! Love you mucho and hope you and Bubba have a fabulous, 1980s-themed Thanksgiving!

xoxo,

Donk

  1. The cards look great! I have to admit, I am not sure I actually finished on of the projects this year… oops. Hopefully next year I will be more inspired : )

  2. No – you’re not the only one. This book was not all I’d hoped for and more. BUT I have, what – think is, a very rad idea for our 2009 along, plus a winner for this round. I’ll post the winner after 12/1 and then we can get to announcing 2009’s awesome-along (temporary name-although appropriate) on 1/1, or thereabouts. Sound good?
Your cards are awesome, btw, birdies to the rescue! Have fun with Papa Donk – and enjoy the rain!!

  3. Um, yeah…the book was not full of great projects althought it APPEARED so in the beginning.

    Cute cards.

  4. I definitely peter-ed out early with this year’s along. I thought the book would be great, but turns out not so much. Can’t wait to see what the new awesome-along is!

I love the birdie and the tree stamps! They’re fantastic.

  5. Kelli~ Your cards look great and I’m looking forward to what the new projects will be for next year. Like many others from the old group, I just couldn’t get motivated with this year’s book, but promise to dive in in 2009. Have a great Thanksgiving with your family!

  6. Father – Daughter days – how precious they are.

  7. Your cards look darling! I have to agree with you. This book has been a disappointment. I tried several projects and I wasn’t thrilled with the results. The most recent was the fan bag in vinyl and it was a disaster. I do enjoy the sew along group and look forward to next years pick.

  8. Pretty cards! Hope you enjoyed your rainy Thanksgiving day!
