January in Phoenix

January 16th

We’re experiencing a cold snap, but it is all relative. I’m guessing these leaves will fall just in time to be replaced with spring blooms.

Pretty colors, but I’m still fond of my native saguaros — no watering or raking required.

  1. ah….leaves in fall shades. It’s actually a refreshing perspective for someone like me. (at the moment – shivering, viewing the skeleton trees outside, not to mention the ground encased in ice. Sigh.) I hate raking with a passion, but I’d be willing to trade…

  2. Oh! Send me some of your “cold” please! I need to thaw out! 😉

  3. Ooh, I love the colors and look at all the leaves on the ground! You don’t see that here! Embrace it! 🙂

  4. The Tempe Library? It is the perfect place to experience Fall. They don’t seem in a hurry to removed the leaves from the ground.

  5. Beautiful! I wish our leaves were still attached to the trees!

  6. Ah yes, that makes me think of September! 🙂

  7. This cold streak is definitely different than last January, that’s for sure. But I’ll take hiking in the middle of the day in 48 degrees over trying to do the same in mid-July any day…

  8. Wow, doesn’t it ever get winter in Phoenix?! There are definitely no leaves on the trees here anymore…all blown away.

  9. The fountain has been frozen for the last 3 mornings…I’m sooo ready for summer!

  10. Beautiful photos! Fall is my favorite season. Love the smell, the crunch, the colors. In TN we are frrreezing! That arctic blast 🙂

  11. I feel like I’m living in Siberia instead of Tucson–of course, it’s all relative to what we’re used to in terms of weather. But, being a desert rat now, my bones are cold. I told my husband this morning that I was sure I heard my poor ol’ bones rattling this morning when I got up. I suggested moving to Fiji but he just laughed. Silly man!

  12. beeeee-yooouuuu-tiful!

  13. Fall can be very pretty but late spring is still my favorite.
