Home simplification project No. 1, complete.

I am still getting used to falling asleep reading vs. watching television, but it is a nice change and I find I’m certainly sleeping better as a result. Not surprisingly, I’m also making a dent in the stack of books at my bedside that had been collecting dust.

Next: a new couch, repurposed art and I’m considering painting a piece to hang about this small table. It feels good to keep things minimal and meaningful.

  1. So … I’m confused. Did you get rid of your television or something? Because I’ve been considering it lately … at least the one in the bedroom. For one, it’s an electricity suck and for two, I tend to leave it on all night while sleeping & it’s been giving me CRAZY infomercial-inspired dreams as of late.

I love the tables though, and think some art is JUST what the doctor ordered.

    You’re awesome!

  2. Very sensible. I wish I wanted to make that sacrifice. Imagine what I could get done?!?!?

  3. I have thought about getting rid of the tv in our bedroom, but honestly, with 2 men in the house who watch nothing but sports and fishing (if I don’t get downstairs first and pick a channel!) I need the tv upstairs to escape from that. Good for you though…focusing on yourself and getting back to a place you’re comfortable with is great. I turn the big 3-2 in a couple of months and will probably be setting some goals for myself for the coming year as well.

  4. It sounds like your 30’s are going to be awesome Kelli. So much productivity, creativeness, change and body/mind work already. A big bear hug. I remember turning 30 – it was truly one of the best times in my life. I had left a bad marriage; 30 was my new beginning in so many ways. Kudos to you for ridding yourself of the TV. I enjoy TV in the evenings with David now that we are retired. I couldn’t be a couch potato though. And just a little advice to those who have a TV in their bedrooms — not good. :-)Your meatballs look delicous btw. I like your Italian loving bugs in the garden too.

  5. You paint too!? I think a painting above that table would be beautiful, Kel.

  6. I can’t imagine life without a TV! Even when we only had 3 channels we just watched movies lol.
